Match Preview:
Defensive pair Franck Queudrue and Stuart Parnaby return to Birmingham's squad after injury, Christian Benitez is also back after missing his flight home from international duty. Martin Taylor, David Murphy, Giovanny Espinoza and Keith Fahey are all injured and Teemu Tainio is ineligible because of clause in his contract.
Sunderland will be missing midfielder Lee Cattermole who has picked up a serious injury that could see him out for 12 weeks and John Mensah is out with a calf problem. Kenwyne Jones is struggling to shake off a knock for the Birmingham match while Bolo Zenden, George McCartnery and Andy Reid are all in contention to start.
